I'm Michael Burris, doing double duty as head of our Reference section and Young Adult Services specialist. I'm a lifelong book addict, and a computer gaming dilettante. Our Young Adult Services is centered around our collection of books, but does not end there at all. We host community clubs appropriate for a library's conference center, like the Strategy Club on Tuesday nights - it's a good way to learn the finer points of Chess, Go, Othello (or Reversi), and Checkers. On Thursday nights, we have the book club - not for reading, but for aspiring authors to work on their stories. Once a month on Saturdays, we open up the conference center for teens to bring in their computers, and we provide the venue for a local LAN party (7 to 4 pm only, games must pass content screening and copyright check.)
Our reference section looks small, but because of our electronic holdings (and the internet), we can generally find the information you need. We are working to complete our collection of local authors, and I pride myself that we have never yet come up empty doing research for local high school assignments - but I refuse to write the paper for you!
For more information about me, my life, and my addictions, I've compiled a few helpful pages, in the hope that someone other than my parents will read this. (Links are over on the left side under that stunning, heavily Photoshopped picture of myself.)
